Is There a Way To Disable On-Canvas Notifications? (Win8.1)

(Had to setup a new account because I forgot my KDE ID on the last one, and couldn't recover it, oops.)

Anyway, hi! I've been a full-time Krita user since v2.8.1 released, and I absolutely adore it! (Photoshop would be a downgrade for me.) Recommend it to everybody I can. I'm loving the recent Krita 2.9's features and little tweaks even more. The ability to lock docks in place, among many other helpful additions make 2.9 a worthy upgrade for me. It's also pretty stable too, much to my surprise after the series of memory leaks that plagued early 2.8 versions.

There's one little snag that makes me glad I didn't uninstall 2.8.3 yet, though. The on-screen, or on-canvas, notifications that tell you how far you've zoomed in or rotated, are slowing things down for me. Higher CPU usage, screen-tearing, lag, you name it, the entire program slows down when they show up. This was also an issue in 2.8, but since they were only used for telling you that you're attempting to draw on a locked layer or folder, I never had to worry about it.

That is until now. I've tried finding an option to disable them with no luck. Is there a hidden option in the configuration files for this? I'd hate to have to wait a few version numbers for this to be fixed.

No there isn't, but I'll add it for the next 2.9 build.

No wonder I couldn't find an option. :o Thank you, Boudewijn! I'll wait until the next stable release to switch fully to Krita 2.9.

Double posting to say I got the Windows update, and while zooming in is still a little slower than 2.8.3 on my Intel GPU, rotating the canvas is faster than it ever was on 2.8.3, (No slow downs at odd angles!) and having the pop-up notifications off is a lot less distracting for me too.

Thank you guys for the fast update, this is much appreciated. ;D
