I was working on a comic. The way I did it was to create a vector layer with boxes that are filled with white and outlined in black. I cloned this and sandwiched a paint layer in between, alpha disabled to restrict sketching to the frames. After I drew some sketches, I made a new group layer above the frames with a new paint layer inside and started to use the text tool (which I haven't used before). It made a new vector layer. I fiddled with the text tool a lot, deleting the vector layers and moving things around because it kept putting the vector layer with the text at the very top, I discovered I can't edit text after I've clicked elsewhere, paragraphs are sometimes too large and cannot be corrected by changing font size and I can't move separate text boxes if they are on the same layer without moving everything... While annoying, none of these are the issue because I managed to put in all my text after making many vector layers in separate group folders. However, after finishing the text, I went back to a paint layer I made for drawing text balloons and found I couldn't draw anything. I went back to my paint layer between the frames (which I had drawn on before creating text) and it was the same: nothing I drew appeared on screen. Even on a new layer with alpha activated, nothing appeared.

I had a similar issue previously, but this was because I forgot to fill my boxes in the frames with white. This is definitely not the issue this time as I completed my sketches before creating any text. I also made sure I had the freehand drawing tool selected and that it wasn't set to erase mode (though if it were, it should have erased my sketches and that didn't happen, either). The only changes I made before being unable to draw on anything were all to do with text, moving it around and creating the new layers necessary. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?
