Can't install v2.9.2

Mon Apr 13, 2015 11:44 pm
Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I've spent the last half hour just trying to log in. I finally had to make a new account. Anyway. I downloaded the latest version of Krita (64 bit version), tried to install it and got this error: Image. I uninstalled the existing, tried installing again with the same results. I had a ton of resources installed, which I saved but but removed from the Krita folder. Any help on this would really be appreciated.

Nice bunch of folks. This post has been here for two days and not a single reply. Like a lot of forums this one seems cliquish, outsiders are always outsiders. This is where someone finally replies, with a smartass answer putting me down, which is ok because considering the friendliness of the atmosphere I see no return so I won't see any put downs or chastisements. Have a nice life, bye.

I'm sorry, I was away for the weekend and sick for most of the week. I'm over seventy forum messages behind and about two thousand mails. As to your error: even though I make the Windows packages, I have no clue. I've never seen this before. The error must come from somewhere in the Microsoft installer framework, but Krita doesn't do anything special with user accounts when installing.

I suggest you try to download the zip file instead and see whether that works for you. You can just unpack it somewhere and run in place. If you get a message about a missing dll, download and install the Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 runtime: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=30679.

Hi. This error is Microsoft-specific: the .msi installer ran into some corrupted keys in the registry. Microsoft recommends using their own fix: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mat ... install/en. Don't forget to reboot after using the tool.

Hope this helps!
