Hello to the Krita forums and devlopers.
![]() I have been excited to try the new features that where just implemented in Krita. As you may be aware from my previous posts, I am using the dev build from git in gentoo linux. I have had successful builds for the most part, other than my own missunderstandings, but now I am stuck on this new build. The first error that I had was for gmic, I just reinstalled it and re-ran "make install", I progressed further in the install, and then, got another error for a depdency that I could not find what it belonged to, which was kotext. I was unable to find out what the dependecy was to reinstall it. So, reinstalled all the dependecies that are recomended in the http://www.valdyas.org/fading/index.cgi/kde/krita-multiple-versions.html?seemore=y build instructions. After reinstalling the the dependecies, I then attempted to install Krita. Again, I got the error of gmic failed
Is there a new dependency that is missing from the list linked that I am missing that could be causing the build to fail? Or dose anyone have a solution to what is happening? I would greatly appreciate it Thank you. ![]() |

You need to make a build from scratch: the psd layer style branch merge moved stuff around so you cannot just run make. Remove, in the build directory, krita/image and run make.

Thank you for the reply.
![]() In the future, is there a post that would explain these changes in the git builds? This way I can check what I need to do before I update krita from git. Thanks again for your help. ![]() |

Well I did the rebuild from skratch and the build completed with out any errors. However, when I rebooted my system and ran the krita exacutable, from ~/kde4/build/krita/krita, krita started but then I got an error message "can not find presets, closing krita now". So tried to run krita.shell from the same dir, but got a crash report with out krita even starting. Here is the crash report when I ran the bug report
I had gotten the error, can't find the presets, in the previous build and just used the krita.shell to run krita. But now that doesn't work. Is there a solution to this? Thank you. ![]() |

There was a problem in opencolorio recently that caused crashes. You probably need to downgrade that package.

Well I for some reason portage will not allow me to downgrade the version of opencolorio. There must be another depency that is locking the version.

So after much pain and suffering I was able to update my Gentoo system. I was then able to get the correct versions of opencolorio, it was being upgraded by another dependency, and once I had all the things that I needed in order, I was able to succesfully build and install Krita.
It is strange though, that I still have to run Krita with the krita.shell. Otherwise I get the error that I mentioned earlier. Thanks for all your help slangkamp and boudewijn. I really appreciate it. |
