Greetings,
I have 3 questions that I think are simple. 1- I've been experimenting with making brushes and have for the most part have been successful. What I haven't figured out is how to add an icon for them. How does one add that icon? ![]() 2 - Being enthusiastic I downloaded every bundle and set on the Krita resources section. There are, obviously, duplicate presets and some I never will use. How do I delete the ones I don't want? I've tried the little red trashcan but the next time I start Krita they're all back. 3 - Once I get all of the presets I want sorted and organized, is there a way to back them up? I've watched Jason Shinn's tutorial on bundles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUB6BOM-b2Ybut I haven't been able to get it to work, I know it's just me. |

Simple but... very long to explain.
The first thing you need to know is that there's a resource manager under settings. From there you can easily get to your resource folder. So settings->resource manager->open resource folder. In there, there's folders like 'brushes'(for brushtips), 'patterns' etc. The one you want is 'paintoppresets'. There you will find *.kpp files. You can drag and drop these into Krita to open them as a document. Then you can draw on the icon. https://community.kde.org/Krita/Brushes_Preset_Preview Your second problem... is a bug. The trashcanned items should be 'blacklisted' which means you keep them on file, but they don't get loaded. In the resource manager 'delete backup files' permanently deletes them. Third problem: The bundles should show up in your my documents folder or wherever you set to have them saved. You can also back them up by just copying the resource folder I mentioned before to a backup spot. |

There is no direct feature for this exept painting on the 'scratchpad' area in the brush editor then overwrite the brush. It's painful to make a pretty brush this way. The workaround ; Go to Settings -> Manage Resources -> Open resources folder ; then in the explorer, open the folder 'paintoppresets'. This folder contains all the 'presets' you saved on disk. Open the *.kpp files with Krita ; they will open as image you can edit to make a pretty icon then save. You need to close Krita and reopen to see the change ( sometime , just selecting the preset refresh the icon ). Maybe in the future a button in the brush editor will directly open the *.kpp in Krita to be edited. That can be a good 'wish' item for the bug-tracker.
Weird, as far as I understand Krita ; this one 'blacklist' preset and never really delete them on disk. Maybe this doesn't work when the presets are inside a bundle. If you want to workaround the issue ; still in Settings -> Manage Resources -> Open resources folder, your bundle are in the 'bundle' folder. The *.bundle can be opened with any 'archive manager' ( ZIP application ). Inside, you should see the subfolder : brushes ,paintoppresets, etc... it's similar to your own resources folder, and you can extract the brush and presets inside it to remanage everything manually and preset by preset.
Settings -> Manage Resources -> Open resources folder : and save your resources folder ![]() ( note : TheraHedwig posted all the infos before me , but I composed this message at the same time. I keep mine too, might help even if the solution are duplicate ) |

I've fooled around with the resource manager but I'll take a closer look.

All of that makes sense, thanks. I've used Gimp for years and now I have to ask dumb questions about Krita. Thanks for the help. |
