Is there any way to set transparent pixels to appear in a the traditional checkerboard pattern? I've just installed Krita and the transparent pixels on my canvas are a neutral grey, which is the same color as the area outside of the canvas, so it's hard to tell how much room I really have to work on. Thanks!

It should be checkers by default... But you can configure the colors of the checkers in settings/configure krita/canvas.
