Hi,
Could anyone tell me if it is possible to configure Krita in such a way that when I keep my pen in contact with my digitizer, as I draw over the same points on the image the color saturation/intensity increases. Currently regardless of the brush I'm using, or the various modes I choose, it seems the action is the same. I have to lift the pen off the digitizer and then come back into contact again. When I do this suddenly the color intensity increases, but it happens in quite distinct steps. Each time you contact the screen and draw over the same point, the color intensity increases but you are limited to a second maximum color intensity. Finally to create intense colors you must lift the pen and make contact again, the final intensity being based on how many times you 'touch, lift, touch, lift etc' with the screen. I find this to be very unnatural. When you draw, in the real world, the color intensity increases just by shading over the same area, and clearly related to how often you cross the same points and how hard you press down with your tool. You do not have to lift your pencil in order to get more intensity. This is not how Krita works, and I would love to find out how to make it act in this way.

Maybe I don't know how to configure Krita correctly, but after using the software for some time, I always found it a little frustrating.

Any help much appreciated, and feedback from others about how they find this drawing style.
Thanks
Aidan

Use flow or any of the build-up based paintop presets. So for basic_tip_default, set the 'flow' lower. This is per-dab opacity. You can also set the brush to use the 'airbrush' option which'll allow it to add dabs based on time instead of movement.

Either that, or set your blending mode to multiply.

Thanks, Flow works. Although it seems very sensitive. Still that's much more like what I was looking for.
Great, and such a quick response!

Hi again,
Actually perhaps I spoke too soon. The effect of flow on the brush you suggested seems to have the desired effect, but trying the same thing with the Pencil_HB it is not possible to achieve the same thing. With the pencil it just never gets darker unless you lift the pen and reapply.

Also multiply mode has no impact on what I mentioned.

Hmmmm.

That's because the HB pencil is set to 'build-up' as the paintmode in settings instead of wash. It should have this effect already in place with 'opacity' instead of 'flow'.

Here's a proper explaination of flow and opacity: https://userbase.kde.org/Krita/Manual/B ... acitynFlow
