Every time I try to open a picture it closes the program, I've tried restarting my computer but it isn't working. Help?

Does it say anything before closing down?
You could try deleting the kritarc file in %appdata%/roaming/krita . |

I'm having a similar problem with the program. Any time I go into the krita settings to do anything, or change much of anything the program goes "not responding" and closes on me. I'm trying to get it to do the windowed option where i can have more than one "painting" open at a time to access. I'd really like some help with this asap please. It's getting bothersome that I can't use the program.

Then delete the kritarc file in %appdata%/roaming/krita and see if that works. The other guy was on OSX, you see... |

And how do i get to that on my system? I've gone into programs and the krita folder/file, etc and i can't find that option.

Search in your %appdata% folder (you can type in %APPDATA% into the file explorer address bar, and it'll take you there) |

I go into the appdata/roaming/krita folder and all i see is cache, share and tmp folders. nothing labled kritarc.

I was more thinking you used windows search tool in that folder because then it will only look in those folders...
Go to share and then go to config. There is the kritarc. |

Does that sound similar to this: viewtopic.php?f=281&t=127349 ?

Sorta I guess. I go Settings/Configure Krita/windows options and click subwindows. If It lets me even get that far when i click ok or whatever it closes the program. Most of the time as soon as i click the configure krita option it closes on me. NOw when I do managed to switch it and the program closes i'll open the program and according to the settings it's changed but the canvas isn't in it's own window it's full screen like normal.

Fullscreen is normal. You can resize it with the little sub-window buttons in the top-right corner(above the workspace switcher, below the big window resize buttons).
But that's good, then we have someone who can reproduce it, so that makes it much easier to figure out why it happens, and if we know why, we can start on a fix. |
