tablet mapping issue after upgrade

Wed Aug 19, 2015 10:14 pm
Hi

I upgraded to Windows 10 and either this or the latest update of Krita means my tablet will no longer properly function. I've spent hours trying to fix it/try out other programmes. The pressure sensitivity is fine. The issue is that when I open the canvas there is a mapping issue. Specifically when the cursor is over the right tool bar it skips left so that I cannot move the cursor over half of the canvas. I can move it over the left half but the lines come out wrong. I have tried reinstalling an older version but I still have the same problem. I use a Trust TB-7300 tablet and my laptop has 3GB of RAM and a little Dual Core Celeron CPU, T3500 @ 2.1 GHz.

Right now this means I cannot use Krita anymore. :'( I also cannot feasibly afford a different tablet or laptop. Please could someone recommend an alternative free graphical programme which is similar to Krita please? Or preferably some advice on how to fix the issue. I had it before and it was something to do with dual monitors but at the time Krita created a dialogue box which fixed it though I cannot seem to find this now.

I have also upgraded to the most recent driver (for Windows 8 ) from the Trust website. There are no other issues with it on my laptop.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide. It is really appreciated. Even if I don't get to use it for a while, I just want to say this has been a lovely programme and really helped me develop as an artist. :)

Hello Sarah:

I'm sorry to hear about your issue with Krita and your tablet. I've a Wacom tablet and upgraded to Windows 10 without issue. It works perfectly with Krita. That leads me to believe it must be a driver issue between your tablet and Windows 10 (admittedly a total guess on my part.)

There are several free programs you can play around with that may work for you.

Inkscape:

GIMP:

My Paint:

Paint Tool SAI:

Chasys Draw IES:

I've tried the first three, all are good at what they set out to do. I've read good reports on the fourth and have no clue about the last in the list.

For fun and amazement, check out the Rebelle website. Download the demo and see if your tablet works with the program. I guarantee your jaw will drop when you see how accurately this program simulates watercolor and acrylic painting techniques. If you have an older processor it may be a bit laggy but the demo lets you play around with all the features so there's no downside to downloading and experimenting. I was so impressed I paid the $$ to purchase and have been having a huge amount of fun putting the program through its paces. My PC is 5 years old and the program works fine.

Download and play around with them all, see which one might be useful and meet your needs.

Good luck

Hi sarahg,
it appears that you have an off-set issue. when you plug in dual monitor there will a dialog box like you mention.
to bring it back do the following
1) Lay you stylus aside
2) Start Krita without using a stylus, that is using a mouse or a keyboard
3) Press Shift key and hold it
4) Touch a tablet with your stylus so Krita would recognize it

You will see a special dialog asking for real screen resolution. Choose the correct value or enter it manually and press OK.

i got this from this page -> https://answers.launchpad.net/krita-ru/+faq/2663
