Improving BEZIER

Fri Aug 28, 2015 10:05 am
Hi everyone,

Even though most artists working with Krita use mainly the brush tool to paint, sometimes you need to define geometrical details (especially when drawing architectures) and draw curbed line and filled areas with the bezier tool, and quickly switch between them.

I tried to count the number of times I switch from a brush-line bezier to a filled bezier in a 8 hours working day and I'm around 30. Considering that I need 4 clicks to switch from one another (see picture attached) + 1 to select the bezier tool if i'm working with another tool, this makes 30x5 = 150 clicks simply to switch WITHIN OPTIONS of the same tool. This is too much and SLOW DOWN significantly the workflow.

The scroll list is unuseful in my opinion, if you consider that it's very uncommon to select a bezier in order to fill areas with patterns or background color. The only possible options should be BRUSH OUTLINE and FILLED with foreground color (which is il 90% of cases the color you are working with). If somebody wants to use bezier for patterns or background colors, it would be still possible combining the bezier selection tool and a fill tool.

I suggest an idea for a different menu to improve the bezier tool in the image below.

Improving the vector and text tools is something that we want to focus on in 2016, it'll probably be the big topic for the 2016 kickstarter.
