Could you point me how to achieve this reflective, bumped and displaced effect?
This is what I've done with blue color dodge

Krita did not have a displacement layer, what is pretty normal as it is not intended for image manipulation, in this case you will be better with GIMP as it has a displacement map.

Reflective Layer can be worked with a mirrored layer, a gradient from solid to alpha and alpha ineritance, among other things so the reflection do a good mimetization of perspective.

alpha inheritance example:

As well, you can do a pretty similar "stargate fluid" with distortion brush and some GMIC distortion effects on a gradient, and a duplication BW of it, where you can work with some filters like color to alpha and bright/contrast, etc.

Do it in big canvas, I did the example in a small one. More precision in the mimic I believe will only be possible directly on some program like blender.

Any question or misunderstood of mine, just ask. :)

Krita is for concept art and illustration, and I think this effect fits within that, so I do think its normal to have this filter effect, especially now that animation will be added to krita.

but i did make a thread about it a while back, requesting a displacement filter layer

Krita is a painting application for concept artists, illustrators, etc, not a image manipulation application, for concept artists, illustrators, etc. Krita focus is well stated in the about page, what artists/professional people do is variable, as Krita isn't a complete vectorial app but a lot of illustrators use only vectors, those will be better served in a vectorial application. This focus isn't a rigid thing sure, maybe displacement map is add some time in future, I don't know, Krita has absorbed a lot of manipulation tasks no? If there did not exist a feature request in KDE bug track system, you can add this feature request there.

you are a 100% right and i apologize if my post sounded dismissive.

You pretty much said what i was trying to say " isn't a rigid thing"
