Some paintoppresets brushstrokes are very wrong.

I just updated Krita, the 2.9 branch from git. Some of the paintoppresets produce odd colors and artifacts.

I noticed this the last time I updated, but then it was confined to some new paintoppresets for a new brush engine, and I assumed that the odd colors were intentional (odd, but intentional). But now a whole lot of the paintoppresets produce odd colors. I made some screenshots. The color painted was always and only black:

These are the default paintoppresets for Krita, updated from git today:

These are the paintoppresets I use, and 9 of the 24 are producing odd colors:

When I say "the paintoppresets I use", what I really mean is the pictured paintoppresets are an attempt to hastily recreate a set of presets that took me about a month to put together, that I lost a month ago when I updated Krita. I haven't actually used Krita since I lost these presets. Today I tried to recreate the presets, and then updated again, sigh.

Anyone have any idea why so many paintoppresets are producing really wrong colors and artifacts (edges that should be soft are hard)? I'm running Gentoo Linux, if it makes any difference.

I should mention, some of the paintoppresets don't actually lay down any color at all. I don't mean color smudge brushes with color rate unchecked. Rather paintoppresets that certainly look like they should be producing color, aren't.

Hi Elle,

your screenshot reminds me a lot a bug someone reported yesterday on IRC,
but it was using a 32bit float canvas. Which mode are you using?

About presets that don't paint while they should, besides some presets using tilt that paint nothing if the stylus doesn't support tilt, I don't see what it can be.
Can you give an example?

The image is a 32-bit floating point image.

I did "git reset --hard 07d591bd0ab3453fbbf993a7e7ebbd018a2ce46a" to go back to approximately July 30. Now everything paints normally.

I forgot to mention, before I reverted git to July 30 the Deform and Filter brushes were also producing odd and unuseable results.

Checking again, it does appear that the presets that don't paint are using a Tilt setting to control the amount/size/etc of the paint. Changing the particular setting allows the brush to paint.

Ok, thanks for the infos. We have a bug report about it, on Dmitry's todo.

Ah for the brush presets that is indeed those using tilt, so that is expected.
