Good day everyone,

I have an image on a layer.

I want to copy that image and paste it to another part of the same layer, i.e. move it somewhere else.

If I select an area and copy, then choose paste, I get another layer with the image in the same position but I can't seem to get cut to work to then past it elsewhere or find any other way to move it.

Sorry for the basic question and I did go through Tutorial 1 and 2 but did not see the subjects.

When I did my search, it appears to search across KDE and I can 't figure out how to limit it to the Krita areas.

Any help greatly appreciated but knowing how busy everyone is, this is a very, very, very low importance item unless someone knows the answer, it takes less than 10 seconds to reply and is not heading somewhere or getting ready to do something else. In other words, I refuse to interrupt art for such a simple question.

Right now, I am simply recreating the image in the area I want it as close as I can get to emulate what I want to do. It kind of works but what I am working on is going to get more complicated fast and copy/paste would be a huge help.

Sorry I have not been around much but winter caught us here where winter is not supposed to be a big deal and these old bones are really complaining.

Hi richardmorgan

Select a region with lasso tool or selection tools ( CTRL+R - rectangular selection region, J - elliptical region , CTRL +A - select all)
then copy or cut with CTRL+ C or CTRL+X
then paste with CTRL+V - this will create a new layer in the layer docker , it will have "pasted" suffix in the layer name to help you identify it.
Then to move this layer, select the layer in the layer stack by clicking on it, then press 'T' for move tool and move that layer wherever you want with mouse
