Hey guys, I was working on an piece I really loved and saved a lot of times as I always do. Well, suddenly my computer crashed while I was drawing.
Normally it is not a big deal but this time Krita refuses to open my file D: "Could not open F:/_Zeichnungen/Adoptables/Adopts_38.kra Reason: Not a valid Krita file: F:/_Zeichnungen/Adoptables/Adopts_38.kra" The file itself is 10,2 MB, so the information is still there, I guess? I am literally crying my eyes out at the moment, I just can't fix it! I read all the entries here, they all say I should use a Zip Repair Tool - I tried but the one I got just does not recognize .kra files, only .zip files?! Oh god can someone please explain how to fix this? I would be devastated if I lose this picture... Thanks guys >': |

Oookay, I kind of happend to change the .kra file into a .zip and "repair" it - it's split, what should I do now?
I now have a "preview.png", I can see my picture, which makes me very glad, but it is only a preview, so it's super small - 180 x 256 Then there is a "mimetype" (with filetype "Datei" which is german for "file"), "maindoc.xml" and "documentinfo.xml" Furthermore, the is a folder with the name the picture had, in that folder is an other folder called "layers" - in this folder are layers 3-9 (I only used these layers o: ) in 3 different filetypes: ".defaultpixel", ".icc" and again, "datei" I have no idea what to do with all these now ._. |

Hum, unless you're using a very old version of Krita, there should also be a mergededimage.png that contains your full, rendered image. You should also be able to simply zip up the contents, rename to kra and open in Krita again. With recent versions of Krita, if an image is corrupted but partially readable, you will get a message which layer is giving problems, and you can remove that from the maindoc.xml file, and then zip up again.

Oh my god! Thank you so much man!!!
My version of Krita is definitely not very old. I tried to reconvert the .zip to .kra but as you assumed, I got an error again saying, that layers 10, 11, 12 and 13 (they were the ones I made invisible) can not be found. At that point I gave up cause I had no idea what to do now. Weeell, thanks to your reply, I deleted the missing layers in maindoc.xml, changed the .zip back to .kra and holy moly, it worked!! You probably don't know how thankful I am, you saved my week! :'DD |
