hi,

i would have liked to assign the CTRL function to one of the buttons on my wacom cintiq, but that doesn't seem to be possible (if someone knows that it is, let me know :)
one of the only things i regularly seem to need my keyboard for (keyboard which is not immediately near my wacom screen) is the CTRL key to "dip" the clone brush. is there any other way to start the clone brush?

thank you!

No, this is hard-coded and will stay so until we have rewritten the relevant area of the shortcut system.

Yes, that is default on ctrl, but you can set it under settings->configure Krita->canvas inputsettings->alternate invocation. I myself have it set to right-click for example.
