Says I need el capitan, which I really don't want to upgrade to, the 2.9 release works on Yosemite

I hate OSX versioning. I never can remember which codename refers to which version... I build the packages on the macbook pro, which has el capitan, and then check on the mac mini, which has mavericks, whether they run. They do. You'd expect that the in-between Yosemite wouldn't give problems then. I also investigated building against an older toolchain, but that failed already when building Qt.

Translating the really frustrated developer: We'll take into account that we'll need to see if we can get maverick-build packages for the final release, but we're first still trying to get our openGL problem on OSX fixed proper and that is really taking up our prime osx-support time.

I understand,
![]() Also ui on macbook pro retina is pixelated, just thought I'd say. I have some good ideas for UI, Have you seen Maya's 2016 ui? It looks awesome, the icons are all vector so it doesn't matter what screen size you have it'll match up, and the tools are colour coded which I think would be a great idea for the different tools in krita. I'd like to help out with designing/ redesigning the ui icons if you need any help? Perhaps I could come up with some mockup ideas and post them here.. |

It's not that our icons are not vectorised, but rather, we had to implement qt's hidpi thingy, which required the qt5 port. The next alpha release is hi-dpi aware.
We've already in the last year switched icons twice, and we're actually hoping to keep the current set for the next 5 years or so. So while we always come up with new things that need icons, it should be in the style of the current iconset(We actually used to have coloured icons, but artists find that really distracting, so hence the monochrome ones now). Edit: If you really want to help out, tutorials showing how to do about anything are always helpful. I still see people on social media complain there's too little tutorials on how to use Krita, and I suspect in a lot of cases people have trouble seeing how a tutorial for an effect or something can be translated from one program to the other, so all tutorials are helpful! Hell, even an outline of your favourite features can be great as it shows of neat things. |

Ah I see, thanks, well I will definitely will spread the word on this app, and create more content in it when it's a bit more stable for mac. I really can see this being an industry standard for digital painting, although that maybe a good few years off that. It performs so well and natural, I've tried every other app and this is by far the best. My favourite tools are the mix and blend tools, work fantastically!
Also recent alpha works for Yosemite so thanks for that, guess I got a bit worried that it would only run on el Capitan for future versions so glad it'll work on my osx. |
