Hello.

I only use about 6 tools ever, and I find that having so many tools in the toolbox takes up space on my small monitor.
So how can I remove the other tool and also the spacers in between if possible?

Thanks, -Anti.

I don't believe this is possible right now. You can only customize the tools/icons that appear on the toolbar.

You can't. What you can do is close the toolbox and put the tools you do use on the toolbar via settings->configure toolbar.

The spacers is not possible, but it is, actually, with some manual trickery, not impossible to hide tools. You can add a line like

ToolsBlacklist=CreatePathTool,ConnectionTool,KarbonFilterEffectsTool,PanTool,KoZoomToolId

To the kritarc file in your settings directory. The names of the tools come from the various tool plugins. They are:

KisToolPolygon
ReferencesTool
KarbonPatternTool
KisToolPolyline
KritaShape/KisToolEllipse
KritaShape/KisToolRectangle
KisToolSelectSimilar
KritaShape/KisToolDyna
KarbonGradientTool
VectorTool
KarbonCalligraphyTool
PathTool
ZoomTool
KisToolSelectOutline
KisToolPath
KritaShape/KisToolMeasure
KritaFill/KisToolFill
KritaShape/KisToolText
KritaShape/KisToolMultiBrush
KisToolSelectPath
KisRulerAssistantTool
ReviewTool
PanTool
TextTool
KisToolSelectPolygonal
KritaShape/KisToolBrush
KisToolCrop
KisToolSelectContiguous
KisToolTransform
InteractionTool
KisToolPencil
CreateShapesTool
KritaTransform/KisToolMove
KritaFill/KisToolGradient
KritaSelected/KisToolColorPicker
KisToolSelectRectangular
KritaShape/KisToolLine
ArtisticTextTool
KisToolSelectElliptical

(I know this worked for the PanTool and the ZoomTool, it might not work for some other tools, the hack is unsupported and without any warranty :P Depending on your OS and desire to be really rough, you can also delete the plugin files that contain the tools from the install dir. That's even more Not A Good Idea, but it works.)

I'd suggest making the icons smaller by right-clicking. You can then drag the edge of the toolbar box to make it thinner. You could also drag the box itself into different positions like so.

This! If that doesn't satisfy you, Thera's idea, or bouds hopefully will for now. I suggest playing around with the program until you find something that makes you comfortable.

If you use mine or Thera's idea, you can save the setup by going to:

adding a name, and hitting save. It's very useful! They also have several default setups to try.
