Hi, I've been mostly very happy with Krita's brushes, but have been struggling to create a particular type of brush I miss from Photoshop. Maybe someone has an idea of how to create it.
Basically, I'm looking to create a bristle brush that is dry at low pen pressure, but clumps up into a block at high pressures. Right now the best I've achieved is using scatter to offset my pixel brush stamp as pressure increases to fill up the gaps in the brush stamp I'm using. Here's a picture to show what I have and what I'd like to achieve (click for full image): ![]() If this can't be done currently, I've also added an idea for what seems (to me!) to be a simple way of achieving it - create a low-contrast brush and use the pressure settings to select a high-contrast slice of that brush. If anyone has tips on this, I'd be grateful! Also related, is there a way to have the texture cut the brush away at low pressures, but leave it untouched at high pen pressure? To get this perfect, I'd need that too. |

Have you thought about playing around with the Animated brush tips? It is in the Pixel Brush engine. The option says "Animated", but a better definition would be "Multiple Tips". If you use that, you change the selection mode to "Pressure". That way the brush tip will change based off pressure. You can then create different tips that have different densities of the stroke. I would be interested to see the result. The Animated brush tips have a lot of potential and are under-used right now in my opinion.
Here is a bit of documentation on them... https://docs.krita.org/Brush-tips:Animated_Brush |

Hi, that's a great tip! I didn't even know animated stamps existed.
Here's what I cooked up just now: ![]() It still needs some tweaking - predicting how the pressure curve turns out is a trial-and-error process, but looks pretty good to me already. I think I'll just need to add some stamps at the low-pressure end to get finer control. Thank you! |

You can kinda do that with the pattern and strength option in the brush settings but not for brush tips unfortunately. (Go try and activate pattern and strength with the large dots texture to see what I mean) Not sure if that helps but good luck!

Ramskull: Was that in response to this:"is there a way to have the texture cut the brush away at low pressures, but leave it untouched at high pen pressure? "?
I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you mean. |
