Hello,
I have been using Krita for some time now, and I quite enjoy the functionality I have in here as opposted to some other programs that I've tried in the past. One of my favorite things was the pen pressure, with the pen changing dynamics depending on how hard or light I pressed the pen. However, when I installed Krita 3.0, I began having issues. The first thing is that it seemed to have reset everything. I lost the custom brushes that I had installed, other things defaulted, including the settings for the canvas when I make a new document. However, these are not too much of an issue as I could always change them back. Instead, my issue is with pen pressure. At first, Krita would not even recognize there was any input. I could press down as hard as I want to, but Krita would not translate that into a brush stroke. After messing around with the settings, I was able to finally get it to recognize the pen, but now it's having the issue with a lack of pen pressure. If I press too light, it won't register. And even at the lightest touch that it will register, it's as big as it would be if I just used the mouse. I have tried messing around with all sorts of settings in a few different places in the program, and so far no luck. I was able to change settings where it changes the opacity of the stroke. But I'm looking for a way to change the size dynamics like how the old Krita used to. Is there any way of getting this back? I am using Manjaro Linux Openbox edition. I used Krita 2.9, and am now currently using Krita 3.0. I am using WP8060 Pen Tablet, which is about nine or ten years old and still works fine. |

I have no idea about your tablet's brand, but about the other things you mention: yes, krita 3 loads and saves settings and resources in a different place than Krita 2.9. That's intentional, so people can keep 2.9 around while slowly migrating to 3.0. A .0 release is always scary. The pressure dynamics for size and opacity did not change at all in Krita; what changed is that xcb instead of xinput is the library used to get tablet info. You might need to recalibrate or reset the pressure curve.

How do I reset the pressure curve? And where is the pressure curve found?
Edit: I have been messing with the global pressure curve option, but it has not been helping. I can only change the opacity, not the size dynamic itself. Moving the dot on the left side yeilds changes in opacity. But the right one also does the same thing, only with the mouse rather than the tablet pen. I do not know how to recalibrate the pressure. |
