Krita not registering wacom stylus when hovering

I use a bamboo connect wacom, or CTL-471. It works just fine in other programs but when I use it in Krita it doesn't register my stylus when I hover it above the tablet to move the cursor. I am not holding it too far as the other programs register it, but Krita will not let me move the cursor unless I am pressing down but that creates a mark on the canvas. Please help. I use a mac and OSX if that helps.

Did you configure your tablet to be in relative mode? If so, that's not supported. Which version of Krita are you using?

I have a similar problem. I also am using a Mac with OS X Yosemite, and Krita 3.0. (however, I am using a different stylus, an Intuos Pro Medium) The program otherwise works fine for me. What do you mean by configuring my tablet to relative mode?

You mean that on your osx 10.10 system, OSX doesn't say that Krita is incompatible? That's what I usually hear from peope with Yosemite. Anyway, it's possible to configure a tablet so that instead of each point on the tablet being mapped to a particular point on screen, the movement of the cursor is relative to the last movement -- and that's something Krita doesn't support.

On my 10.9 and 10.11 test systems, with my Intuos 3, everything works fine, I'm afraid.

My apologies, this is purely forgetfulness on my part, I am actually running Mac OS X 10.11.5

I should note that my tablet still works, and the program appears to be mostly functional. To be clear, the problem is, while I can see the cursor hover above the canvas, when I make any kind of stroke of my brush, the cursor stays at the last point of the stroke of my brush. If I hover my stylus away from the canvas area, I can see the icon again. But this is a little frustrating, and I'm afraid I cannot really use Krita on my Mac until this issue is resolved.

I'm sorry about providing false information about my operating system due to my bad memory!

I have the same issue. It is hard to paint when you don't know where your stroke will appear next.

- Max OSX 10.11.5
- Krita 3.0 (downloaded today, 7/29/16)
- Intuos 3

I have an additional issue where the program seems to zoom out randomly as I paint. I found that it is triggered when I lift the stylus far off the tablet (straight up, out of hover range), and then straight back down. It also happens if I flip the stylus to the eraser side.

There is no menu option under Settings for configuring my tablet (seems there should be according to documentation?)

Any suggestions?

There is only an option to configure the pressure curve, nothing else. Both the bugs you mention have been recently, and the fix will be in the next development build. The next release is in the first week of September.
