Hi. I just upgraded to v3.0 of Krita, and just noticed that my Brush Defaults page and Pop Up Wheel both only have the Favorite Preset tag groups. In tutorial videos, I'm seeing what appears to be default preset groups (ex. Ink, Erasers, etc), which aren't in my copy.

I haven't modified Krita much, and haven't made any of my own tags, so I'm wondering if these default tags still exist in v3.0 (and the vids are of older versions), or if the default tags somehow got deleted/corrupted/not properly installed... and if so, is there a way to get them back.

Ironically, I've been reading bug reports of the OPPOSITE issue... deleted tags coming back... but nothing of the default tags being missing.

Any help?

It's a bug, and I need to find time to look into it, or entice someone else to look into it. On some of my systems, tags work, on others, like my sketch-block SP3, it doesn't. And on some it works sometimes. This part of Krita really needs love and work, lots of work.

Okay, cool. I just wanted to see if it was something I was doing wrong, or if the tag presets I'm seeing in vids were only in pre-3.0 version.

Wow. Now that I had a chance to play around with the whole tag thing, I see that (on my system at least) it's completely broken.

Not only are the default tags missing, but I can't create a custom tag group, nor even customize the Favorites group. Yep, tags completely not working, aside from the Favorites group existing, and being able to select from it (but not add/remove from it).

Hopefully they manage to fix that, as it was a bit annoying having to manually find and grab the brushes I want every single time, over and over.

Is there not some workaround I can use for now, where I can put a group of brushes somewhere for easy grabbing? (I guess that's the tab system right there!)


One thing I did notice, too.... When I use the search function of the brush presets, I can't actually select the brushes that appear in the results. Clicking them does nothing (whereas clicking on them in a non-search context works).

For those who arrived to this thread looking for answer to this issue:
Custom tags keep disappearing sometimes (not clear under which circumstances) in v3.1.1. The bug is not yet fixed.

There is a workaround in another thread in this forum:

That has allowed me to work smoothly with all my custom tags, without disrupting my workflow.
