I have a windows 10, touchscreen HP laptop and when I use the the brush, it won't let me use my finger to draw, it lets me use it in the instant preview, but when I select the brush the cursor doesn't move at all. Any other tool, i.e. Calligraphy, Ellipse, etc. can be selected, and drawn onscreen by my finger and/or a digital stylus.
Is there a way I can fix this? ![]() |

we disabled touch drawing because it caused glitches for people who where using the stylus and had touch support.

As always, things are both more complicated and less important than someone who is not actually doing development might think. Krita is meant for working with a pressure-sensitive stylus, not a mouse, fingers or those rubber-nibbed styluses. Trying to support both causes bugs, and using a real stylus, and not having those bugs is way more important.
Making both possible is just really complicated. I gave it a try some time ago, but I haven't figured it out yet -- partly because the input code is convoluted, partly because the person who did the override code to disable touch doing painting isn't much around anymore and I have to figure out what it was he did. |

I just downloaded Krita and was disappointed to find this issue. Does the paintbrush work with a stylus in the sketch version because it says this:
"Krita Sketch is the first touch-based painting application that offers the real power of a full digital painting application" Don't want to download it to find out it doesn't actually do touch based painting either. |

Actually, Krita sketch is based on a far older version where the touch input does work. It's a slightly different program. It's just that we lost the ability to make Krita sketch work with multiple documents since 2.9, and then with 3.0 we needed to rewrite our whole tablet support due to maintainance reasons and touch support didn't work then. |

So just to be clear it currently doesn't work in the Sketch version either? If it did I'd have switched over.
In that case will just keep the standard Krita and wait for a fix. |

Krita sketch support finger painting on a touch screen, as does Krita Gemini. Krita 2.9 also supported it, iirc. It was disabled for 3.x by someone who is no longer around, and while I've looked for ways to restore it, I haven't been able to figure it out.

I had the same problem and thought i'd just use my wire mouse that i plug in sometimes. When i open up Krita the cursor lags severely and i was wondering if there was a solution? I'd hate to use it with only a touch-pad.
