Hi i'm a furry artist and i draw a lot usually all day everyday, and i've been using opensuse leap with kde 5 as my main os now with krita ,and i cant imagine my life without it.
But my work involves using the .kra file extension. Its becoming very hard to browse through my artwork without any thumbnail previews, and this becomes quite tedious and frustrating.
I figured since krita is a kde program it would be supported by kde 5 and be able to show previews of the kra file extension in dolphin file manager and work the best with that, but nooo it doesnt.
what were the developers thinking by not being able to see previews of files created by a kde program under a modern kde desktop?? this doesnt make any sense.Is there a way around this so i can see previews of my files in dolphin ? i tried and sometimes use psd files,rarely, and those aren't showing either

Its unlikely that Krita or KDE are at fault here, my guess is that your system is missing the kdegraphics-thumbnailers, (blame your distro administrators ) or that you have it with known bugs (as it was a couple of releases ago), I don't know which version of Plasma is in OpenSuse, but I remember a similar bug months ago in that package. Recommendation: make sure you have that package, and/or update your distro or get a newer one

This did not work for me, i was able to find the package for opensuse leap42.1 but when i installed it ,it actually broke my system and really screwed up all my software sources and repositories and all i was left with was a terminal login screen with no desktop, i was really upset, but luckily i fixed most of the damage with my original installation media. However i did get psd previews to work which ill use instead of .kra from now on,but i nevermind the .kra its awful ,and just doesnt work for me in my version of kde5.5.5

With the Arch Linux & KDE Applications 16.04.3 the thumbnailer for the Krita & OpenRaster is part of the package kio-extras (16.04.3).

Sorry to hear that, simple things shouldn't cause that much trouble, that's suse leap's fault though, this "pre-packed" distributions should come with the essential packages. I suggest to file a bug with them, .kra files and all the previews works fine here. (archlinux user)

Didn't know this, yet isn't kio-extras a hard dependency of Dolphin? if the Op is missing in fact that package would be really odd. but again I don't know much about suse.

kio-extras5 is installed on my distro ,but still there is no kind of option for selecting kra previews in dolphin settings. so it must be a problem with my distro.
i just took a look at the forum though i have no understanding of what im reading, it seems overly complicated to me, and i'd rather not break my system again trying this stuff out . I do have psd previews working , so ill just stick with that.
