Hi. I am a filmmaker with an interest in 2D animation. I have recently been playing with the HDR painting feature inside Krita, and I find it a really good feature especially for building up lighting gradually. But I have an important question about it. Since I am interested in 2D animation, I wanted if I can really make use of the HDR painting feature for my post-processing workflow. Ideally, what I would like to do is to start painting the frames of my animation, then take the pictures to compositing software (mostly Blackmagic Fusion, especially since it also supports the OCIO library), and finally take the composited film to DaVinci Resolve for final color corrections.
My question is, when I export the HDR-painted image from Krita, does that give me more room to play with the colors later in the grading process, or is HDR painting just a feature that functions inside of Krita? |

You can export the animation frames in any format supported by Krita. Including PSD, EXR, OpenEXR, Tiff. Which can handle up to 32bit per color channel.
