As a Krita Newbie I may need some help understanding some of the basics:
Using the most recent Windows version I created a text (purple) and used the layer style 'Outer Glow' (yellowish) with the result appearing just fine using a white (lower) background layer. However when I create another black background layer that sits in between the text layer and the white layer, the outer glow effect disappears entirely; only the purple text remains visible on the black background. Why would the outer glow show on the white background layer and not on the black one? I can't figure that out. Of course as soon as I switch the black background layer to 'hidden' the glow appears again against the lower white background layer. None of the layers have alpha properties set, so it's a bit of a mystery to me; somebody can help me out? I can't attach a sample file to this post to illustrate this I guess .. Any help appreciated! |

On the 'Outer Glow' configuration, change the 'Blending Mode'.
Start with 'normal', then change it to your preference. the 'normal' blending mode should show up on any background color. |
