Problem with color management

Wed Nov 16, 2016 5:37 pm
Hello, I use krita in part of a school project. Basically the idea is to acquire the BRDF of custom paintings (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bidirectional_reflectance_distribution_function)

I start by letting a robot turn the light around the object and take picture of it. Then I take the raw files (.NEF), and transform it to 16bit integer tiff using darktable-cli.

At this point, darktable has embeded a color profile in the picture, and the color look and feel between krita and darktable is the same.

But then, I have 4 marks, that are easily recognisable by the computer and are at given positions. So I let OpenCV (the python version, cv2) locate those marks and use them to align the pictures (this is important for comparing datasets).

Apparently everything goes ok, the pictures are aligned and looks nice in darktable, but it has no embeded color profile anymore. When imported in krita, it looks way too clear... Apparently krita use the default color profile (sRGB-elle-V2-g10.icc) which apparently isn't the right one.

Since the first image had just a sRGB as a profile, I tried to tell krita (in the image properties) that sRGB was the profile of the second picture, but it didn't worked.

Did any of you had similar problem ? Or have the beginning of a solution ? (it's not that much important, I do all the programming in python, but krita is usefull to compare rapidly and try blending modes on the datasets)

Ouch. The problem here is that we've never had the time to implement the ability to change what profile is assigned to a file. I think you're best off trying to see if you can somehow attach a profile with darktable.
