I discovered that mypaint has some very good brushes, many of which are far better than whats in krita.
Does someone know how to use mypaint brushes in krita? i see that in gimp2.9 its possible to use mypaint brushes , but i dont like gimp because its too difficult and tedious and disrupts my workflow ,i wanna know if its possible to use mypaint brushes in krita, |

As far as i know, Krita does not support MyPaint brushes. But a lot of MyPaint default brushes are created by David Revoy, who also created a set of brushes for Krita.
Here is a link to his page: http://www.davidrevoy.com/categorie12/download |

Oh im already well aware of those , and been had all of those brushes for a really long time now, there are many certain mypaint brushes that i desperately want to use in krita. You know if theres a krita administrator boss that is working on a way to get mypaint brushes compatible with krita ? maybe we can expect to see that implemented soon come next krita version ? |

No. There is no work going on in that direction. We had a mypaint brush engine in Krita once, but it was rather slow because we needed to translate between Mypaint's internal color format and Krita's color format for every painted pixel, and then the mypaint developers dropped the C++ api for their brush engine and started a new library, and we removed the plugin.
If you want to see that return, you'll have to code it or find someone who wants to code it for you. I'm not that interested myself because I don't think that Mypaint's brushes are "far better" than Krita's brushes. |

OK understood, though unfortunately i can't do any coding, and havn't even the slightest interest in learning how to do it ,maybe i could pay someone to get what i want done in krita |

Paying for code sounds cool until one realizes the sheer cost involved: this would very likely take two to three thousand euros to implement...

omg , aww i was thinking it would cost me around 50-70$ to get what i want done, didn't think coding was That hard . Me alone as an individual i only bring home 2500$ after taxes each month ,so i can't afford it, its unrealistic. thanks though ![]() |

An easier and cheaper (free) way for you to get some brushes at your styling is by studying the brush engines options, the brushes called in krita presets, are just a group of settings enclosed in a "brush", get some time tweaking the settings and experiment, once you get familiar with them you will likely be able to mimic Mypaints brushes behavior, would be sad that you can't enjoy such a great program like Krita only for the presets. I do like Mypaint too, and is also a nice program, its a matter of tweaking and getting use to. Also don't forget there are many people doing presets bundles, many for free, Revoy's (as suggested above), GDquest, Raghavendra's, among many others. : )

I'ts ok , i have been aware of everything you just wrote, i think i may even have all the brushes, even the Wolfthera and GDgeust ones, ive been using krita since version2.8, ever since i got my cintiq tablet keys working in linux, and the more i use linux the more i realize how absurd Windows really is. its just that i found a really good pencil brush in mypaint , and a few others that i really liked. |

I see, would be a fun thing trying to mimic some brushes still. may be a winter project? I myself am not too literate on brush settings though, but if you name some you like, I would like to try (during the following months) and see if I can manage to get close to a least one brush. I've been trying to learn the settings and see if I can produce a set of brushes, hopefully in a year from now, and this would give me some practice. : )

Hi, found this thread while googling "mypaint brushes in Krita"
I'd be willing to throw in $120, with enough people donating I think we can definitely have a dev taking on this project, now the question is where to post this donation pool? something like patreon or bountysource? |

Alternatively, maybe hold a student coding contest and use the donation money as a price pool? I'm sure students don't mind doing a holiday project where they can win money and eternal fame

Fifty dollars buys you an hour of coding -- a cheap hour. And you can't do a whole lot in an hour... |

whoa i didnt think people were still posting on this, but i already solved my mypaint brush problem because i can use mypaint brushes in gimp 2.9.5 , even though i dont like gimp and find it highly confusing compared to krita, its still better than mypaint, but if u really still want to remake my favorite mypaint brushes that i use so you can use them as well, i can go though and name them all. I actually find myself often only using just the Basic default stock brushes in krita |
