I've been processing RAW images using Ufraw, then exporting them as 16-bit TIFFs. I then import these into Krita. However, they look too bright. They look perfect in Gimp (git version), Dolphin's preview, and Gwenview. Here is a screenshot showing Gimp on the left and Krita on the right. As you can see, the histograms look consistent between the two.
![]() I also tried exporting from Ufraw into 8-bit, and Krita shows those fine. I read about a bug relating to this in Krita, but I think it's been fixed.

Sounds like a gamma problem. Is there a profile set in the tiff files?

Thanks for the quick reply, and good question. I'm not 100% sure. I'm very new to RAW, colour correction and Krita. In Ufraw, I specified "Output ICC profile" as sRGB. Is that what you are referring to? I also checked the output TIFF file with exiftool, but couldn't see anything that looked relevant. If it's helpful, I can share the file. It's 72 MB, but I can just crop a small section. |

Please share the full file with me -- a dropbox link in a private message will do.

I don't use Dropbox for numerous reasons, but I'm uploading it elsewhere and will PM you. Thank you again. |

Hm, that tiff file has a tag saying 'sRGB' and a gamma value, but no embedded profile, so Krita selects the 1.0 gamma profile, which explains the way it looks different.
Please make a bug report -- we should read the TIFFTAG_DCSGAMMA tag and take it into account when selecting the default rgb profile, so this is a bug. |

Thanks. Bug report submitted. Again, I don't totally understand this, but is there a workaround in the meantime? Cheers. |

Thank you for the quick fix. I tried downloading the development version of krita (krita-git in Arch's AUR), but it wouldn't run for me. I had to download ~800 MB and build for over an hour. Is there a workaround using krita 3.1.1 in the meantime?

I have no idea about Arch and their builds -- including why it wouldn't run. But you can test the unstable 3.1.1 appimage I made last Friday: http://download.kde.org/unstable/krita/3.1.2.0/

Thank you so much, boudewijn. That works perfectly. I really appreciate your quick and helpful response. In fact, I'm so impressed that I donated a small amount to Krita. Thank you again.
