I'm experiencing lag using a fresh install of an AppImage of Krita 3.1, simply by hovering the cursor over the artboard. Currently, it is erratically trailing behind my stylus by a considerable amount. Brush strokes, when performed, are jagged. Granted, the trailing is also happening while using the pre-installed GIMP 2.8. Although significantly less so, its much closer to the Stylus, and brush strokes are smooth.

I'm using Debian Jessie 8.7 stable, in a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Special Edition Laptop, with Cintiq 13HD as my tablet. These are my hardware specifications, as described by the System Settings:

RAM: 16 GB
Processor: Intel Core i7-5500U CPU @ 2.40Hz x 4
Graphics: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM3.5, 256 bits)
Disk 1TB (966.8 GB available)

Although not displayed here, my computer has a Radeon R7 Series Graphics Card - though I'm not sure of its specific model. These are the drivers I'm using:

xserver-xorg-video-ati (1:7.5.0-1)
xserver-xorg-video-radeon (1:7.5.0-1)
xserver-xorg-input-wacom

Krita is basically at its default configuration, though I did mess around a little with its performance settings, aimlessly trying to be more generous with it in terms of RAM to see if that would be enough. This is how I left it:

Memory available: 15998 MiB
Memory limit: 12000 MiB (75.01%)
Internal pool: 240 MiB (2.00%)
Swap undo after: 240 MiB (2.00%)
Swap file size limit: 8 GiB
Disable vector optimizations (for AMD CPUs): Marked

Fun fact, I have AppArmor installed, though I didn't have it enforce restrictions on Krita. And with that, I hope I've covered all the relevant information to troubleshoot this matter. I thank you for reading through it, and for any aid provided.

As you use Debian, you might want to try installing Krita from Krita PPA:

https://launchpad.net/~kritalime/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

AppImages are a new thing, that might cause problems.

For debug you can try check:

Right after you start using your graphics tablet, might be problem visible there.

I suspect it's the AMD gpu + graphics driver. Try disabling opengl to see if that makes a difference.

I'm sorry boudewijn, but I went ahead and tried installing it on Debian as previously suggested by adomas, to see if it would work. First I tired downloading from the PPA, following the instructions in this page (https://wiki.debian.org/CreatePackageFromPPA) but gave up on the idea seeing that the download that was offered to me from the source was that of "Calligra" instead. I might have messed the process somehow, in order to get such result.

Afterwards, I tried following David Revoy's guide (http://www.davidrevoy.com/article193/gu ... x-for-cats), and ended up breaking my system trying to resolve its third-party dependencies. Definitely messed up this time, it seems that some of the necessary packages conflict with gnome.

Now, with a fresh install, I tried downloading it from debian testing repositories. The package's descriptions make it clear how it could conflict with gnome (https://gist.github.com/anonymous/63794 ... 784fc27736) I wounder how could I solve this, or if I should return to the AppImage sollution XD.

Hello there. I decided to settle for the Krita 2.8 that is made available through Debian's stable repository. Its is working very well, and fits my needs. I'll wait for the shiny new version to arrive there when time is due. Now, how would I go about closing this topic?
