Huion® Giano WH1409 tablet

Tue Feb 14, 2017 7:02 am
Hello group,

I am looking for a replacement of my Wacom Bamboo CTL tablet, and I am really interested by the Huion® Giano WH1409.
Are some of you using this tablet ? If yes, could you please share your experience with it?

Thanks in d'avance!

Hi!

I'm actually testing it for a few days on MAC and Linux. Linux will automatically recognized this tablet either by usb cable or wifi thanks to the generic Linux graphic tablet driver, but any physical keys will work nor will be customizable (no dmesg output, no xev event, etc.). Except from that it works like a charm with Krita, and the (very) large drawing area is really comfortable.
However, I'm asking myself about to return it for the benefit of a wacom Intuos Medium. Indeed, Wacom comes with a drawing software for MAC (and Krita is buggy on MAC), the WH1409 is a little bit too big and not very convenient to store and Wacom has a better Linux integration.

Hope this will help you to make your choice!

Hi,

Thanks for your reply !
I'll use it under W, so I don't expect driver problem. What I am looking for is usage feeling, and you gave me your valid points.
My current tablet is a Bamboo CTL 460, which is really too small to be comfortable. So to go with my 24" monitor, I think the big Giano area might fit perfectly. However, you tell me it' s a bit too big, so I begin to be concerned. Is it too big for the comfort during drawing, or too big to be easily transportable?
