Hello fellow Krita users
I am having issues with the new git build of Krita, 3.1.88 (git 87cdfoe). When I chose the preset that I want to paint with and then flip my pen to erase, and flip the pen back, the preset dose not return to the brush that I was painting with. But instead, it stays or just uses the preset Eraser_circle and when I try to change it to another preset, it goes back to the Eraser_circle but uses the color that I had had selected. I tested that it wasn't the tablet/pen that was messing up in mypaint; it all worked as it should. So there is something going on in the new version that wasn't in my previous builds. What I have done is completely deleted the previous build folders and rebuilt Krita, I even checked the preset editor was saving the previously used settings, but no mater what I do, it will not switch back to the paint preset. I have tried to use the "/" (but it still reverts to the Eraser_circle) to switch but when I am using several brushes at a time, I like to have the pen flip so I can still have the eraser when I need it. So if one of you knows what I can do to fix this, or if it is a new bug with the kernel that I am using, I would appreciate the help. Thanks. I am using: Intuos 5 touch M Gentoo Linux Kernel 4.9.8_x64 Plasma 5.9.3 |

Well I have been drawing in Krita trying to find a fix and have discovered some other odd behavior. Krita seems to be really sluggish. It is apparent when I have cascade windows open and I switch between two images. Before I could go back and forth with no issue and it would focus instantaneous (resizing the image frame has the same delay). Now it almost takes 4 seconds, which seems to be a min, I never had this issue before. I even downloaded the appimage and gave that a go to see if it was just the git build causing issues. But like the git version, it wouldn't return to the previous pen preset when re-flipping the pen back, and took for ever to gain focus of a second image in cascade view. So I don't know if it a dependency that is causing these issues. Would running Krita with gdb show anything that would help sort this issue?

I'm ot aware of any change that could've made switching between images slower. You'd best use a tool called valgrind to check for performance issues. If you build yourself, you can revert f1968fd7f55cda3a08aa0488a3b72d186db565e8 to "fix" the stylus end problem.

Thanks for the reply.
I had downloaded the appimage and it had the same issues, so I figured that the dependencies might have something to do with my problems. So I just discovered that rebuilding and upgrading my dependencies have fixed the performance and functional issues. I wish that I knew which package/dependency was the culprit, but rebuilding them, and reinstalling Krita was what I needed. Now everything is working smoothly. Thanks again. |
