Memory efficient model/profile

Tue Mar 07, 2017 8:55 pm
Hi,

I want to use Krita as a whiteboard. Therefore, I would like to have a lot of resolution (10k*5k or so) but I don't need more than black, white, and a few basic colors and grays. Is there a single 8bit channel model or profile that allows this? I assume it would have lower memory footprint (which seems pretty high with three-channel profiles). So far the only single-channel profile I see is for greyscale.

Best,
Jacobo.

Hi! If you need color, you'll need 8bitRGB minimum. 10000x5000 pixels is not a challenge for Krita. It might be if your computer is a raspberry pi, but on a common hardware ( dual core over 2Ghz, 4GB of RAM , Intel HD gfx... not a workstation for CG artist ) you'll be able to take note, draw smoothly.

Check https://docs.krita.org/Quick_Brush brush engine for optimizing your markers. This brush certainly performs really fast on low hardware. :)
