Hello! I readed the news about the release and took a look at the Krita Kime PPA but I see no packages for Xenial in the list, I also checked the packages listed in the Synaptic package manager and the newest available version is 2.9. I know I can download the appimage, but I'd like to know if support for Xenial Xerus has been dropped cause currenty that's the system version I'm using (besides, for some reason the appimage version doesn't integrate fully with context menus and task bars, it doesn't matter if I open the appimage and select "show launcher when it's closed", if click on it the system will open the "default" version of krita installed in the system, which is 2.9 for me).

Yes -- the ppa only builds for versions of Ubuntu that have the right dependencies. But if you cannot figure out how to add Krita to the Unity launcher, you still have another option, namely the snap.

I see. II'm not using Unity, I'm running Kubuntu 16.04 and I tried to use the launcher from the Icon-only task bar, but the system will always launch the older version, the same happens if I double click a Krita file or use the context menu to select "open with Krita". I haven't tried uninstalling Krita 2.9, perhaps that'll help, but I'm not sure if I will lose all the saves brush presets and such.

Do you use the kubuntu backports ppa?

Yes, I have the backports repo enabled, but the version from there is even older than the one I got from the Krita Lime repo a few months ago when it still was available.

Well, I ask because we are currently testing some updates to be pushed to the backports ppa in due course, which includes latest krita 3.1.3. ![]() |
