Can't find the menu bar or the header (?)

I'm brand new to everything here, first time logging in and I just downloaded Krita to start doing digital art (which I've also never tried), but it's blank and there's no canvas up. I looked on YouTube to see if there were any tutorials on how to get started and the first thing they said was to go the the menu bar on the top (with File, View, Image, etc.) and I don't see it anywhere on the Krita platform I have up. I was trying to figure it all out and in the process I accidentally made the toolbar disappear. So I looked that up as well, and figured out I have to go to "Settings" on the header menu, but there is no head menu that I can see...so now I'm a bit stuck. Help would be great :) I'm looking forward to using this program.

So here's a screenshot of what I've got. There is a header there, with things like opacity, size, and stuff, but it doesn't have the header that's supposed to be above it. :-\

Thanks,
Nina

i'm surprised that the bar at the top is there and there's dockers on the right side, but the rest is missing ... but perhaps you pressed the tab key to get into canvas-only mode and somehow the dockers stayed open?

in any case, if you did something that makes krita unusable, here's how to reset krita's settings: https://docs.krita.org/KritaFAQ#Resetti ... figuration

to find the appdata folder it talks about, just enter %APPDATA% in the address bar at the top of the windows file manager

Yeah, I thought that was a little odd and couldn't find anyone else who seemed to have the same problem. I'll look into reseting it, but I have no idea where the appdata folder is. I actually just finish downloading it again. The tool bar is back, but the main header is still missing. Hmm...

:* No worries! I got it fixed with enough fiddling. Figured out the top bar looks exactly like the one that's normally on the top of Mac with "Chrome" as the title on the far left and it only shows up when the curser is over it. I didn't realize that the word "Chrome" was changed to "Krita" since the bar isn't really connected to the rest of the platform. It just didn't look like part of the program at all. My bad. ;)

please try if this helps.

when you've reached the appdata folder, find a folder in it named "local" and in there you should be able to find the file "kritarc"
