I use a Mac OSX.
I've recently started using Krita for animation. However I cannot fully render anything because when I try to save the file as a mpeg-4 or any other file, it exports just fine but when it gets to the encoding process it makes zero progress and I've been told that an animation of only 26 frames shouldn't take more than a few minutes. I have discussed this with someone else before but they've stopped replying. The last information I got was to try and open the log file in Text Edit although nothing shows up in the Text Edit tab when I do this. The only log file I can find that relates to the animation is labeled log_encode.log. Opening the log file on it's own gives me my entire laptop's system loq queries and this is all I could find that relates to Krita; 14/05/17 12:51:16.718 pm com.apple.IconServicesAgent[262]: main Failed to composit image for binding VariantBinding [0x1f1] flags: 0x8 binding: FileInfoBinding [0x2f5] - extension: kra, UTI: org.krita.kra, fileType: ![]() 14/05/17 12:51:16.765 pm quicklookd[1579]: Warning: Cache image returned by the server has size range covering all valid image sizes. For now I practice on my 3DS on Flipnote but it's not what I need. If there's any other free or lost cost animation programs that will work for a Mac, then let me know, I've already tried things like Pencil but that was a disaster since it won't export. |

I have succeeded in rendering an animation on OSX, but that was some time ago. Encoding with ffmpeg is a bit fiddly and you have to be sure you have a version that works -- it might be best to just render to frames and use a real video editor to make the frames into an video file.
