Hi there;
Two issues with Krita on my Surface 3 (not Surface PRO 3). I keep thinking these issues will go away as user base increases and somebody smarter than me will fix them; alas, hasn't happened and I'm tired of using Sketchbook as my backup when I like Krita so much more. I'm willing to pay money if anybody can get these two things actually fixed for me (and for the community) - say 200 bucks Canadian per each of these issues. I'd prefer to donate this to the Krita development fund, but I'd pay it personally to somebody if that's what it takes. So, Issue One: pressure sensitivity. Yes, I know this issue has been flogged to death, and I've done all the installing and uninstalling of all manor of drivers and photoshop trials and so on, but at present, I'm having a specific issue with the range, or curve. Basically the whole range of response is jammed into a tiny portion of my input. So, if I brush just ever so lightly, basically not touching the pen to the surface, I'll get a thin line. But apply even the slightest bit more pressure, and I get the fully maxed-out thick (or opaque, or whatever depending on the brush settings) line. I've tried messing around with the curves in settings, but it's really all the same issue. I should be getting a slight line with slight pressure, then slightly more with slightly more pressure, and so on until I am pressing quite firmly to get a firm dark line. But nope, it's basically a boolean switch between almost no pressure and any pressure at all. I do not have the same issue in other software; Sketchbook, for instance, gives me nice gentle response from light to firm. Issue two: cursor calibration: Another issue about which there seems to be much discussion, but none of the suggestions for workarounds I've found so far seems to actually work for me. So basically, I like to calibrate my cursor so that I can see the dot at the tip of my pen, rather than have it hide somewhere underneath, behind the tip. So when I calibrate this in the pen settings of windows, it works everywhere except in the Krita canvas. Even with Krita menus and tool boxes it's just fine, but then as soon as I hover my pen over the canvas, you can see it jump from it's calibrated position, to its default position, which is only directly beneath the tip of the pen if I hold the pen directly up and down like a dolt, rather than at a slight angle the way any human older than three would hold a pen. Even if I could just manually enter a number somewhere, telling Krita "Wherever you think the cursor goes, it's actually 5 pixels up and 5 pixels to the left of that" I'd consider the issue solved. Thanks for your time, hope somebody can help. Cheers, Calum Smith Vancouver BC Canada |
