Disclaimer: Hello. I have been looking around in this forum section to see if anyone is having the same issues as I am and so far had no luck. I'm sorry if my issue is a common issue, I am new to Krita and this is my first post, so take an easy on me.

Problem: When I open a new canvas or open a picture on Krita, the canvas itself freezes. Everything else works, like the options, clicking the layers, the brushes. Just when I try to draw onto the canvas, it won't respond to my mouse or to the tablet's pen. My drivers are up-to-date. I checked twice. So, I am not really sure what I can do to resolve this problem.

Also, please give a list of things on what I can do and to how to do it. Send pictures to help me understand what to do. If you can do so.

Device: Windows 10
Tablet: Wacom
Krita: Version 3.1.4

Okay, I figured it out on my own to fix this problem.
I had to go to Settings, Configure Krita, then go to Display, then I unchecked the OpenGL

That seemed to fix the freezing problem. So, I guess this issue is resolved?

Idk what the OpenGL does and what changed when I unchecked it. So, it's all good now.

OpenGL makes everything faster, improves the experience when rotating the canvas, when tiling the canvas and improves animation. It also needs good drivers to work with, and on WIndows, drivers are ****. Most work, but some wide-spread drivers have versions that give the kind of problems you describe.

You can help by telling us exactly what brand and model your computer is, which version of Windows you have and whether it was a fresh install or an upgrade from another version of Windows, what display chip you have and what display chip driver version you have. We currently don't have a single system that suffers from this problem so we cannot even try to figure out a workaround for the driver bugs.

I have the same issue. Posting so remember to check incase someone finds a solution
