Personally, I really dislike the new brush interface, and from what I'm seeing, I have to click on one of the engines to choose and then icon in order to see options for them. I know how this is intuitive for digital painters, and how digital painters are the most focused group of the Krita project, but personally I like using Krita for rendering products and even image editing better than GIMP and it does have all the tools I need. Krita 4 Alpha was amazing for me for the most part and the vast huge speed improvement is what makes it viable for realistic looking 2D renders, but this puts me off. I don't plan to use the vast majority of the brushes that came with Krita, and I find this interface change awful for my workflow. How do I get the old interface back? I liked it better for my needs. If there is a way to just change the engine, and the options for it should appear immediately, then I wouldn't complain about this.

You don't have to click on an engine. You can just select a brush. You can also search for brushes if you don't want to scroll. If you have a select few brushes you switch between, the brush editor is not designed for that. It is focused on editing your current brush

The thing is in the old Krita 3.1.4, I can just click on a engine, and get the options I need. This workflow is actually more suitable for my need than in Krita 4. I'm not interested into the vast majority of the brushes, and within Krita 3.1.4, I just go into clicking on a engine and adjust the options and call it a day. With Krita 4, I have to select a engine, and then select one of the big icons which is twice the work. For people who are very into digital painting, this is absolutely fantastic, but for concept artists and especially product designers, this workflow is not acceptable. |

I'd just use tag for all presets and engines I need (like I actually do).
I agree what with new interface you need more clicks (in my case I also need to select tag "all") and I don't like this additional actions too. I think new interface is better as brush selector for common brushes then old one is better for selecting rare brushes (like filter or shape brushes). Didn't tried it in real work though. There is one more thing I dislike in new brush editor - vertical alignment for predefined brush tips. Spacing bar becomes too little and its too hard to ger proper value (again ![]() |

You should be able to switch between list and grid view for presets. You can also now change how big the icons are in a slider by the filter.
For the spacing, I thought we had a fix for that. The small spacing is a problem as most brushes have smaller spacing |

It "fixed" because it's exponential slider which is much better for this case. But the slider itself became very small so the problem is actual again. And honestly I'd lower max spacing value to 3 or so. Funny but rotation slider is small too, for example I can't select 90 angle, it just jumps between 89 and 91. Same for 30, 45,60,180. |

Stupid question, rad, but you do know you can right click a slider and type in a value, right? It might not be obvious because it is in the introductionary parts of the manual: https://docs.krita.org/Navigation#Sliders
Not that it may not be made longer or something, but, rightclicking might be easier? |

I know I can enter value or better hold shift and move slider but I think it's better to use less actions if it's possible.
Most likely it's only my problem and other artists don't play with brushes as much as I am. Maybe I'll solve it with python. |
