Hi everyone,
I was wondering how to use clipping layers. All the tutorials I've found are confusing or not what I'm looking for, so it leads me to think that clipping layers are specific or I'm thinking of something else completely. Basically, I think clipping layers are used for painting, where creating a Mask (or something), allows you to paint inside the lines. I have no idea how to do this EDIT: When I set up a group, with my lineart at the bottom, and a painting layer at the top, I click inherit alpha on the painting layer,, and when i go to paint, it just changes the color of my line art, so i was wondering how i color inside the lines |

As far as I know, probably Clipping Masks and Alpha Inheritance is not the preferable choice when painting areas surrounded by lines. I'd rather use the Filter > "G'MIC" > "Black & white" > "Colorize [interactive]" filter (here is a video guide on how to use it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YigbVY9s6gU&t=1m8s ). G'MIC Colorize [interactive] filter can recognize areas surrounded by strokes and expand your color hints accordingly. Krita "Layer" docker > "Colorize Mask" layer, would be a similar choice, but it's still experimental. I'm using Krita 4 pre-alpha. EDIT: G'MIC (Output type: Image + Colors (multilayers)) it's of help in order to split each filled area into a different layer. By doing "Shift + Ctrl + G" (clipping group) on them it'll then be possible to paint inside the lineart.

It looks like you have same problem as in this topic, check my comment on why only your line art is been affected. I would suggest the same as I did there ![]()
