Artisul D13 on Krita

Thu Aug 17, 2017 4:10 pm
Hi everyone,

So my current dream tablet is the Artisul D13, which I have heard is the best Wacom competitor. I was wondering if anyone knows if it works in Krita. In the list of tablets supported, it says 'Unknown' but it is manufactured by the same people who manufacture Ugee and Yiynova (i think). But in one of the threads I have seen, the cursor on some Ugee and Yiynove tablets don't move: [url]https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=139&t=140254

Should I just save up the extra bucks and get a Cintiq 13HD?

Right now, yes, a Wacom is still in all cases better than anything the competition provides. It will last longer, the drivers will be better (though problematic enough, the competition's is worse) and the precision and feel will be better. If you can save up, save up. Go for a cheap non-display tablet in the meantime. If you go for non-wacom, go for Huion, since they actively support Krita.

But does the Artisul D13 work on Krita? The only reason i might want this over the Cintiq is because i think that the Cintiq needs to plug into a wall with an ac adapter. Is this true? If so, how much of a problem is it?

Just to give some feedback; yes, on Windows using the Ugee drivers was sometimes awkward, ie needed a careful clean and reinstall, but 99% of the time that was a case of having to reinstall because Windows had updated/messed something up, plus I don't think Windows/Wacom view other devices too kindly. Ugee were responsive in updating drivers for people.
On Linux there's absolutely no problems, not with drivers or the Ugee's hardware/sensitivity/accuracy, and I find it much more direct and simple to use than Wacom. I can change kernels, mesa, allsorts, and using the Ugee isn't affected at all.
