Lets start with the first problem, the lag. So, I am using a Dell quad core x64-based PC (laptop) and I have 7.89 GB total physical memory, and I use an INTUOS Draw tablet with Windows 10. I can't really see the issue here and why it's laggy. I am new to Krita, and do still find it a bit tricky...
OH, a quick additional question, my lines are always the same thickness, regardless of the amount of pressure I am putting on my pad.. I know for sure that this is Krita and not my pad/tablet as the lines are different thicknesses due to different pressure on the windows sketchpad. When I first opened the program I accidentally deleted my layer box and I can't seem to get it back so I can't physically see myself changing the layer, etc.. This would be very useful if it were fixed. Thanks for your time and support to all those who help (: |

For the layer box: settings/dockers/layer box... That's simple. As for what you call "lag", there can be a ton of reasons. On the same hardware, with the same files, for me, photoshop and krita have the same performance when drawing. But sometimes people think they need 32 bits floating point images in Krita, and yes, that'll slow things down. It's just impossible to say from a distance what's up: for most people Krita performs just fine, so if it doesn't for you, check whether you're using crazy images sizes (15k x 10k) or crazy channel depths, or some "security" software that holds Krita back, or have accidentally enabled the stabilizer without realizing that, yes, when that's enabled the brush drags behind the cursor.
