Hi! I want to ask if Krita can be used for surface tablets without a keyboard. That's means that important keys such shift, crt or crt+ z are not available.

Hi mastermemorex and welcome to the forum!
Yes, you can definitely use Krita without a keyboard. For quick access to functions such as undo, full screen, etc you can add them to one of the toolbars. Just go to Settings > Configure toolbars, pick the function you need from the left side and add it to the toolbar contents to the right. For panning and zooming I suppose that you can use the touch gestures of your tablet. The tricky part is the modifier keys (ctr, alt, shift). If your tablet or the tablet stylus do not have any wacom-style configurable buttons, the only solution I can think of at the moment is an external tool called tabletpro. You can find out more here: http://tabletpro.com/ |

Thanks very much for the unswer!
I have been struggle all the day and I think I've come out with configuration that works for me. I dock the undo history under the tools and it is even better than crtl+z. For the tricky keys shift, control, ... I open a windows keyboard and move to the left where I can get access to the especial keys, without taking much workspace. Maybe it is not the best solution, but I can do the work. I still don't get right the gestures for moving and zooming. I miss a minimap, but I suppose it is my lack of practice. ![]() By the way, great program. |

Yes, indeed, the modifier keys are the most important issue when using Krita without a keyboard. (Tablet Pro seems to be Windows-only. It's also not open source or free. ) The virtual keyboard I tried (onboard) would not let me draw with the stylus while a shift key was clicked. What is the Linux solution for using Krita modifier keys without a physical keyboard? |

I found a way to do it. Basically, I fooled around with the general accessibility settings in KDE System Settings, and the the virtual keyboard settings and I was eventually able to get modifier keys to work without a physical keyboard. So it's possible, it does not require any special software (or any non-free software) and it wasn't that hard to accomplish once I started experimenting. I also went through all the Krita settings, including dockers and toolbar customizations to arrive at a very useable setup. |

There's also a Touch Docker that has some options like Save and increase brush size. The Quick Settings Docker lets you quickly use predetermined Sizes, Opacity, Flow, which I find helpful for choosing exact sizes instead of fiddling with a size bar.
I'd like to see customization options for the Touch Docker so I can add Copy, Paste, Cut, modifiers, etc. |

the touch docker is customizable, in principle. In practice, I never had time to actually implement the customization gui.
