Hi all. My power goes out a lot for one reason or another, so I end up having to use Krita's auto-save file quite a bit. I have it set to autosave every 1 minute, and to create a backup file. I'm assuming the backup file is the .kra~ file.
So usually if my main file gets corrupted by something like a crash or power outage, I can rely on the autosave file that is always sitting right there next to my main file. But for whatever reason, even though I was working on this picture for about 4 hours, there is no autosave file in sight. I also tried to unzip and fix both the main file and backup file, both of which were corrupted, and no dice. So my questions here are: What exactly happened to the autosave file this time around? Is there a place it might happen to be stored before it gets sent to the folder with the main file, so I could try and find it there? Why did the backup file also get corrupted? (My hunch is that while the power was going out, not only was I manually saving, but the document was also autosaving, and everything got corrupt all at once?) As for what version I'm using, it is 2.9.9 for reasons explained in my other topic here that would be nice to get some insight on as well: viewtopic.php?f=288&t=142500 |

Hi Snep, I've searched the Krita bug tracking system for the keyword "corrupt".
As for autosave, Krita Documentation: "For Windows these files are saved in the %TEMP% directory. If you are on Linux it is stored in /home/'username'." ( https://docs.krita.org/General_Settings ) Hope it helps |

Thanks for the info. I looked in the temp folder and couldn't find any autosaves sadly, but I've since restarted and finished my piece anyway. I guess the best way to avoid this in the future would be incremental saving, which I usually do anyway, just not this time...
