Export as pdf in krita

Sun Jan 14, 2018 6:34 pm
Hello, I'm a little bit confused about the export as pdf in the file menu.I started using Krita only today - so maybe I'm missing something. It's important to me to be able to save as pdf.I don't have the option on the file menu.I googled this issue and found different resources.one place says there is no such option at Krita - another resource show print screen with such option available in the Krita file menu-Does the difference because of an older version? I installed the 3.3.3.What version should I install to have pdf option?
I also understood that I can combine Krita with Scribus and save to pdf in Scribus-is it a good solution?-Does scribus preserves the CMYK profile -because the purpose is print.

Hi alinsh,

I guess versions <3.1, but, quoting the documentation: "This has been removed from 3.1 because the results were incorrect."

Print to pdf was removed because we could not actually create CMYK PDFs, so we removed the option because we felt it'd be like lying to keep it if we could not create CMYK pdfs.

Scribus is designed for print workflows, it is an opensource layout-designing program, which is used to create things like magazines, posters, business card and indeed, CMYK pdfs containing artwork.

Thank you very much and some more questions:
1.Does Krita have built-in option to add bleed and crop signs to images-make it ready for professional printing? or should I use Scribus for adding them?
2.Can I trust Scribus to give me CMYK pdf solution when I import CMYK image from Krita to Scribus and does Scribus not to difficult to use-because I took fast look at it and saw that in the colour management there are different CMYK -so I'm afraid I will go lost and have bad results.

I would rely on Scribus, it's its field when it comes to prepress (https://wiki.scribus.net/canvas/Pre-Press)

Yes, I would

Imho it's really easy, of course one has to become acquainted with its settings a bit.
