Hi !
I'm using a lot the selection tools and I figured out that I can Press "A" to add a selection and "S" to remove one. But I could not find where is the option in Krita settings. I would like to set a key to the "replace" option of the selection tool as well, if there is not already one that I'm not aware of. Hope it is not a dumb question, I g**gled it already but could not find something useful for this matter. ![]() |

Hi,
it should be the "R" key. |

Hi, thanks for your answer. I already tested this but it does not work that way. With my settings the R key is used for click-select one particular layer into the canvas area. I would rather like to find where the selection tools options can be configured (if it can be done by a normal not-coding user ?).
Any ideas ? |

In both settings->configure Kirta->keyboard shortcuts and settings->configure Krita->canvas input settings. |

I went to both locations to search for the option tools shortcuts. Did not find... I found how to "call" the selection tool in keyboard shortcuts. For an example, Rectangular selection tool is Ctrl+R. But how to change the options of that tool with keyboard shortcuts, that I could not find. I even searched for "Add", "Selection" keywords...nope... Is there a sub-menu I cannot see, maybe a bug ?
Canvas Input seems not to be what I'm looking for neither. Let's try with a screenshot of the option tool docker : ![]() What I'm looking for is to call the Actions (which are Replace, Add, Substract, Intersection) with a keyboard letter. |

Just click "and release" the "R" key "before" selecting. Also: https://docs.krita.org/Selections#Editing_Selections
Hi TheraHedwig, if I understand correctly, it seems I can't find those actions there ("replace", "add", "intersect", "subtract2) in my case (Krita 4.0.0-beta1.1) |

If you hold your cursor over some tool icons, the tooltip shows the name and sometimes a keyboard shortcut in brackets after the name. Some tool icons do not have a tooltip of this nature. This seems to suggest that a keyboard shortcut is not possible for them. This would need to be confirmed by a krita developer.
As for the keyboard shortcut for the Rectangular Selection tool, finding it and changing it: https://imgur.com/a/t08A9 If you see a small black triangle that points to the right (or down), it's a good idea to click it because it indicates a pull down list of some kind which may be of interest or use to you. |

You were right for the beginning, "R" does work for both "Select Layer" and "Replace selection". I just did not did it correctly at first try. Si I guess these shortcuts cannot be changed in settings, still it does work perfectly, so problem solved.
Thank you all for your time. And thank you for this wonderful programm and support ! Edit : And now I can see the shortcuts in brackets when I hover...does not work every time though. (I'm stil on krita 3.1.2 'till I'll upgrade my OS, so that can explain that) |
