Hi,
I'm trying Krita 4.0 for SVG support, but when I try to open SVG files made with Inkscape and I just have a vector blank layer. Which is the correct way to import an SVG file? Inkscape cannot export CMYK files. By far people use Scribus to transform an RGB vector into a CMYK one. Since Krita 4.0 introduce the SVG support, I was wondering if people can use Krita instead of Scribus in order to import an RGB SVG made in Inkscape and export it in a CMYK colorspace. Thank you |

Oh man, this is complicated. Yes, technically, you can import an rgb color svg into Krita, convert that to cmyk and export it as a tiff. You will still need to use scribus to create a cmyk pdf out of it. Technically, Inkscape can make cmyk svgs, but the manner of doing so is a bit tricky as the only gui for it is adding the color profile to file->document properties->colour, and then in the color tab use flat color->cms and select the profile. (Krita 4.0 has an export swatches to svg thingy which Inkscape can then use, but that doesn't link the color profile correctly yet because of lacking API to get the right data for that.) Krita 4.0 can load these values, but the vectors themselves cannot handle anything but sRGB right now. The import of the file you did was correct, but sometimes inkscape creates svg with an explicit svg name space appended to each tag, and Krita isn't handling those files correctly yet. We're not even sure what causes inkscape to do this... |

Inkscape can Save As 'Plain SVG' or 'Inkscape SVG' files, both have a .svg extension. Which type of .svg file did you save as from Inkscape? Could this be a factor here?
In Krita 4.0.0 beta 1.1, I've Opened both types of .svg files from Inkscape 0.92.1 with no problem but they were very simple two object vector images for test purposes. Are you trying to open a quite complex vector image? Either way, if Krita can't handle some aspects of any Inkscape .svg files, because of something that Inkscape sometimes does, then you will have problems. Added: If you just want to use Krita to convert RGB to CMYK (assuming this is a good way of doing what you want to do) then can you Export from Inkscape as a .png file and then bring the .png file into Krita for colour profile conversion? |
