I've had krita for about 2 weeks, never had any issues, last night after finishing a few hours of pencil work, I noticed the program was lagging tremendously so I decided to save the two works I had been drawing on. By this point I've had krita open for several hours 8+ and so I thought that maybe my pc was running slow bc of the constant usage. This morning I tried to open the work I had saved last night, and krita immediately crashes. The program is not responding, windows closes it. I'm very disappointed, as krita is a great program.
Windows 10 (64bit) Intel core i7-3820 cpu @3.60ghz 8.00gb memory western digital 1tb hardrive Again, the program had been running flawlessly up until last night. Pls help. (I uninstalled and reinstalled v3.3.3.... nothing.) |

Thanks for the tip but it's not working. It seems to be with just this particular drawing. it's 3.3g in size, and since it's only pencil I don't see how that's possible while I have others inked and colored and they're 113.3m. I don't know how I could decrease the size of the drawing, also there's a message at the bottom that says there's no memory left....
So besides going out and buying more ram, is there anything I can do here? Also I tried to cut and copy the drawing somewhere else and it crashes krita. |

You can open the .kra file as a zip file (e.g. with 7-zip or the like) and extract the file named "mergedimage.png", which is the image with all layers merged. This way you should be able to at least recover the drawing. There must be some reasons for the file to become so large in size. What image dimensions did you use? Which colour model and bit depth did you choose? How many layers did you create? It could also be a bug somewhere in Krita, but it's not very likely. In any case, if you can provide the developers with the file in question, we might be able to figure out what happened with it and try to recover the file for you. Since the file is so large, you can perhaps upload it to Google Drive or Dropbox and provide the shared link to it. |
