I've been around computers since 1980. I've experienced a lot of different Operating Systems. And I am here to tell you, Apple its self can be a pain. But what they have done is brought us a highly reliable OS. I can remember the days of Window 3.1, 95, 98 when it would take all day to set up your computer because of all the different drivers one would have to find and load. Believe me, it was a pain. That being said, Windows has come a long way for the good.
Apple has to have everything their way, which, I am sure, is a pain in the ... for programmers and developers. But their way of looking at it is: the software will work (hopefully) very well with their OS and computer. That is why they build their own computers (known equipment/boards), and not just let everyone build something to put into a computer/OS. Can you imagine all of the different drivers etc. you have to have for all of the different model/makes of computers for Windows? That is a pain. And where, I am sure, a lot of bugs come from. Linex is based on the same base program Unix as Apple, as I understand. Which I also understand, is a much more stable and secure system than DOS. Which is why Apple gave up the CPM system in the eighties and moved to Unix. I wish you had a lot of help from other programmers. I appreciated what you are doing. It's hard I am sure. I brought up a problem I had with Krita 3.3.3 and was told it was probably driver related. I didn't do anything and later downloaded and installed Krita 4.0.1 and ....Wa-La....everything works. MAGIC! But it looks like it does not work for all the Mac users. And that makes me wonder why? It would be nice to figure what is wrong, so maybe there could be a fix. But since we (Mac Users) are on the back burner, to say, I don't know if that is going to happen. Well, any way, Fair Winds and Following Seas....as we say in the Navy (Retired). |

Hi!
I don't want to get the hopes up or anything but, I'm starting to develop for Krita on OSX. I don't think I will be able to hack soon on the most complex bugs but I will focus more on OSX bugs and try to solve them… eventually. It might take a while since im only starting to get acquainted with the code, and I want to get the GSoC proyect done first (this requires a good amount time to understand and to implement well). That said, Krita on OSX has come a long way. So I'll try my best to help out! Cheers :]

This is a really good message to start a day with. Thank you for that. Do not forget that no matter what you will eventually come to, solving one or a hundred bugs, we - poor ordinary artists - appreciate all the efforts, time and patience. Anyone who understands a thing in developping, please, consider helping to keep osx version safe and sound. |

Thanks for the support guys! Just take into account that it may take me some time to really tackle the bugs. Getting to know Krita code + How OSX window sistem works + Qt events + etc… (Maybe in the end it's wont be so complicated, but who really knows at the moment).

I have this bug too. Using MacOS 10.13.4 with AMD Radeon 455 on Krita 4.0.3
Have a workaround for this bug, it's not the perfect soluction... When you back to canvas, touch and drag your cursor in any empty place at the GUI and drag to canvas. It will prevent cursor's wrong icon in the canvas. |

Unfortunately Krita 3.x is so laggy for me, have a huge delay. Yesterday I notice another thing to reduce the lag of krita 4.x. I use the a resolution as 1680x1050 and when I changed to 1440x900, it's so better now. But still with a lot of bugs =/ I'm loving Krita and I'm feeling forced to change to another thing. Affinity Designer is really have a really good IDE, but it's no so good as Krita. And it's funny, Krita is free and AD no. |

Thanks Ghevan! You're the man!
I would actually love to help but I'm very unfamiliar with OSX and created this thread to try to help out my partner who became discouraged half way through her first Krita drawing. Don't give up guys!! (I understand if you do, Boudewijn) I'll try to learn a thing or two and contribute if at all possible. Thanks again for your amazing software. Bugs happen. Then someone pays a QA tester minimum wage to get **** on all day by devs and then there are less bugs.. ah.. the software development life-cycle. |

Another issue? Inability to access resource folder with Open dialogue in Mac OS
Can somebody please provide me with direction as to how I can open, for example, "Import Brushes" in Managing Resources? When in Finder I can see that they're at /Users/heviiguy/Library/Application\ Support/krita/brushes but, the Open dialogue doesn't even show the Library folder, let alone let me access it. CMD-Shift-. doesn't do a thing to alleviate this problem. |
