Hi. I installed krita 4.0.0 on mac (OS 10.13.3) and started using it, but I haven't been able to change the language from English.
I have already tried changing the language from Settings -> Switch Application Language -> set Primary and Fallback language -> OK -> restart, but the language is still in English. I also tried reinstalling krita, but it did not solve the problem. This never happened when I was using krita 3, and I have no idea how to fix it. Sorry if this is a simple question, but any suggestions what I can try? |

I spent a whole day making that work last week... And it worked for me, but that might only be because my macOS is set to English. What language is your os set to? And could you start Terminal.app and then start Krita manually and paste the output here.
If you installed Krita to /Applications, in Terminal.app enter: /Applications/krita.app/Contents/MacOS/krita And press enter. |

Thank you for the quick reply.
I'm working in a Japanese environment. What came up in the terminal is pasted below. Forgive me if this was not the best way to post it ... I didn't know a better way. Hm... So the override language isn't set (in krita's own language chooser dialog):
> Override language: "" But Krita does see that your language should be set to Japanese: > Setting Krita's language to: QLocale(Japanese, Japanese, Japan) And Japanese is available: > Available translations QSet(... "ja", And Qt's languages are also set to Japanese: Qt UI languages ("ja-JP") "ja_JP" Theoretically, everything should therefore be fine... Is even the file dialog not in Japanese? |

From what I have checked so far in using krita, I haven't seen any Japanese.
However, some Japanese sites introducing krita 4 shows screenshots with Japanese (on mac or Windows, I am not sure). I guess it is a problem with my PC ... Is there a possibility that it has to do with the presets or hidden files in the Library folder created from krita 3 ? |

I just downloaded krita 4.0.1, and it's in Japanese!
A couple of pull-down menus are still in English (Window -> Workspace, Filter -> Edge Detection, for example) but there is only a few, and I am very happy with how it looks. Thank you krita team for solving this problem! |

Yes... This was a tough one. It turns out that we updated Qt to a newer version, but that had a bug in the code we used to look inside the app bundle. Instead of krita.app/share/locale, we would get krita.appshare/locale -- and then no translations would be found. We patched Qt especially for this bug for 4.0.1

I was okay with using the English version, but being able to work in my native language takes away the small stress that was there.
Thank you and the krita team so much! ![]() |

So funny thing: I installed Krita 4.1.0 today and while my Mac is in English mode, I have Japanese chosen as my secondary language. Krita picked Japanese.
Out of curiosity, is the patch that was applied the reason for this? Feels like perhaps the last locale is getting picked instead of the first? I'm on macOS High Sierra, if that matters. |
