I'm a biggener of linux that using Krita in Ubuntu 17.10(Gnome-shell), and I'm not good at English, so let me know if I wrote something unclear.
A trouble was happend when launch Krita ver.4.0 (appimage) and using top menu bar.
That's dropdown lists have been blacked out like this...

Please teach me how to solve this problem.

I usually see that issue when there is an old kritarc preferences file on your computer. That can mess up the main menu options. You can find that file this way...

You can try to remove that and see if that helps.
